Two weeks from tomorrow

Two weeks from tomorrow is the big day! I haven't been blogging much lately because I haven't had time and I've been too stressed and busy to blog! We've had TONS to do! But the invitations are sent, the cake and the flowers are ordered. The photographer, videographer and DJ have been booked and know what to do. The ceremony has been planned. We know what music will be played. My dress is ready to be picked up tomorrow. I've had my "pre-updo" for my hair.

Everyone tells us that things won't go perfectly so don't stress about it because it will all be fine. And I believe it. I've been part of plenty of weddings enough to know this is true. I really do want to just get past all the planning and fretting about all the little details and just get to the day. So I'm just trying to remember that the most important part is that by the end of the ceremony, John and I will be husband and wife. And that we have fun with each other and our loved ones on that very special day!

Last Saturday was my bridal shower and it was wonderful. I couldn't have had a better time. Family members and friends were there to celebrate with me. To the left is a photo of the beautiful group.

The Last Two Months

I am again way overdue on a post. This one is full of news. Big news. We changed the wedding date to October 15th. Yep. Moved it up a week. Worked better for some things to reschedule. We had to check first with the church, priest, our parents, and it all worked out. The only thing it did not work for was the reception hall and we had not yet signed the contract. And that has turned out to be a blessing. We have chosen to have our reception at the Hotel DTC instead. They have been so helpful and kind.

I had my first dress fitting last Saturday. Through a friend I found a seamstress who I really like and she took a lot of time with me and showed me 3 or 4 bustles so I could pick the one I liked the best. She was patient and didn't rush me. My dress should be done on September 10th.

Amy and Brittney's dresses are to arrive tomorrow - can't wait to see them. I think the only alteration will be to hem Brittney's dress but we'll know for sure when they try them on, of course.

We ordered the invitations Sunday night so we're expecting them sometime soon. I wish I had received the email that they had been sent because we were hoping that we would be addressing them this weekend.

Invitations and more on dresses

A post is overdue! This will be quick because Prince Charming is picking me up posthaste (I hope I used that correctly - love the sound of it!).

We think we may make our invitations so we're checking on the price of paper, envelopes, etc., to compare to pre-made ones. I think they'll be pretty and it sounds kinda fun (ask me when I'm sitting in the assembly line tying ribbons!!!).

This lovely dress you see to the right is the dress my beautiful bridesmaids will be wearing! And it is shown in the color for our wedding, sage.

Okay, gotta go. My chariot awaits.

Looking at Dresses

Brittney, my beautiful niece and maid of honor, met me at the mall last Sunday to look at bridesmaid dresses.

The scoop . . . Johnny and I drove to the mall and I met Brittney in the dress department of Dillards. Johnny headed for Borders (more accurately, the book magnet in him was drawn to Borders. If he had struggled, which he did not, it would have been to no avail).

At Dillards, we found some beautiful dresses, and the gorgeous girl--no, young woman!!--fit into one of the very small sizes perfectly. I tried one on, too. It was fun trying on dresses with her. Precious aunt and niece time. Amy, my dear friend of nearly 20 years and other bridesmaid is gonna go to the mall and try one on when she has a chance.

After the dresses and on the way to hook up with Johnny, Brit and I talked about shoes for the wedding and stopped in a shoe store to peruse. Then we met up with Johnny in the local section of Borders, looking at bike maps of Denver and the surrounding area. Then we were off to one of our favorite restaurants, Tokyo Joe's. Over healthy Japanese food, Brit gave us all the details of the cruise she, her dad and brother had taken in June. Sounded like a blast. We had a lot of fun talking with her. She goes to college in less than a month!!!!!!!!!!!! I still think of her as my little baby niece. Gonna have to start sniff letting--her--grow--up.

3 months and 7 days

Unless you're a stranger to me, anyone reading this blog knows that Johnny and I are engaged. We were engaged 6 days after my last posting! We'll be married on Saturday, October 22nd.

So, what's the deal with me not having posted since then? No excuses, except busyness with wedding plans and John moving to Denver, etc. But I still could have blogged. Anyway, I won't dwell on that, but just keep moving...

I thought I would try to post something at least once a week so that my family and friends with whom I'm in touch more often or less often could know what's going on.

John moved to Denver on June 5th and we are SO HAPPY to live in the same city after more than a year of living about 1600 miles apart. The closing on his house is next week, July 20th - praise the Lord! He doesn't have to be present for it. John and I have been taking evening bike rides and loving it. He is such an encouragement to me!

Where we are with wedding plans:
We have our church, Christ Episcopal Church, reserved. We have the reception site reserved: 2/3 of the ballroom in the Driscoll Center at the University of Denver. We have taken a pre-marriage class with 2 couples and will be having a few meetings with the priest who will be marrying us. My wedding dress is in and I will be going in soon for the first fitting!

More soon... feel free to make comments on the post - I'd love to hear from you!

Meow ,,,^..^,,,

Hello on this Monday evening. Glad to be done with the work day. Only three more days until my darling Johnny visits. I've been counting down the days on my dry-erase board at work and I can hardly believe I could write 4 at the beginning of today. Seemed like it wasn't that long ago that I was still in the 30-days. Friday's my last day of work until April 5th, so we have a lot of time together - yippee skippee! :-)

My precious furry ones are curled up asleep on my jacket on the bed. My gosh, they look cute. There aren't many times they don't. (Wonder how many minutes will pass before one of them--probably Kezi--will try my patience.)

Well, guess I'll be turning in for the evening. Looking forward to listening to my friend, Michael Medved, as I drift off to sleep. Curious to hear what he had to say today about Terri Schiavo's case. I hope and pray that it is decided very soon that they can start feeding her again.

These are my kitty girls, Yaz and Kezi. They're sisters and they just turned 5 on March 16th. This photo was taken when they were adolescent kitties. Posted by Hello

Inaugural Post!

Hello Anyone and Everyone who might read this ~

I'm excited! I just found blogger.com and set up my blog tonight. So I thought I'd write a short note just because I can. :) And because I want to get this thing started. The motivation for starting a blog was to possibly post some of my writing to see what others think and maybe to keep me motivated to keep writing. Anyway, we'll see how it goes...
